Reflector
Reflector is equipment to reflect light. This equipment can be made from a numerous materials including Styrofoam sheet, white fabric, cardboard, and many more. In the usage of the kind of light modifier, it will bring the color character from the reflecting surface on the photo. There are two main functions which are to change hardlight to softlight and to fill light. So, it can be used to fill the light to the side of the object that is not getting enough light.

Umbrella
Umbrella is the most widely used light modifier used by photographers because umbrella can be easily folded up and carried anywhere. There are two types of umbrella: bounce umbrella and shot through umbrella. The bounce umbrella has a light-colored inner side that is used as a reflector. The light source will be directed to the inside of the umbrella. Then, the reflection light is used as extra lighting. The character of the light produced by the bounce umbrella is more concentrated. Shot through umbrella is just like the bounce one only it’s translucent. The light source is directed to the inside of the umbrella and then the shot through light is used as extra lighting. The character of the light produced by shot through umbrella is soft and not too intense.

Softbox
Softbox is equipment that has the principle works of reflector and diffuser. In a softbox, there is a box covered with a diffuser panel on one side of which is used as a discharge light and reflector on the other side. The character of the light produced by a softbox is soft enough, but with very strong intensity. It is because the reflected light is first detained by softbox and then returned by the other side of the softbox (the reflector side). Many people who learn the basic techniques of photography especially lighting consider that softbox is the best type of light modifier for its minimal occurrence of light leakage.
